Installing Polynomial in local mac shop

I visited local mac shop and installed my game's demo there :-)
The testing results: Works perfect on iMac with NVidia 9400 GT 256MB and 1920x1080 display resolution, the framerate when maximized is around 30 fps, but controls are still very smooth and responsive. Though, I had trouble actually playing it because of mac's mouse acceleration curve, which is less than optimal for mouse-joystick controls. I do not know if it's just result of my dislike for accelerated mouse or affects everyone; I'll try to add option to disable mouse acceleration ingame.
Also, the new Apple's mouse is sexy, but does not permit pressing both left and right mouse buttons at same time. No biggie, can zoom with shift.

Also, I don't know why, but my game does seem to look prettier on that iMac than on my cheap display. Gosh. Now I'll be wanting to buy expensive display.

  1. Hi,
I have problem with the game on a MacBookPro 15" with 9400 and 9600 GT of 256mb dedicated memory. I maximized to full screen the game, and the game doesn't work corretly. Now, I can't access to the menu and have to close the game.

I tried unistalling, but it appear in full screen too.

Sorry for my english. My e-mail is lgruz1@hotmail.com

    Thanks

  2. Hmm. Would be helpful if you can describe in which way it doesn't work correctly. I can recommend turning off Quartz Extreme (if its enabled), to conserve graphics memory.

  3. How can I turn off Quartz Extreme? I have Snow Leopard, and the problems is when I use the full screen mode. But I don´t know how turn off this option because when I push "esc", nothing happens. And I can move the pointer only while I'm pressing the second button of the mouse.

    Thanks

  4. Quartz Extreme is an OS X feature, which uses GPU for compositing, similar to Compiz on Linux and Aero under Windows. It uses up significant amount of video memory.

Regarding moving mouse only while pressing second mouse button, unfortunately I can't imagine any reason how something like this may ever happen :/.

Turns out it is somewhat non-straightforward to disable quartz extreme. Web search turns up this:

  5. This link is for old mac. I'm in a MacBookPro later 2009, with 15" and two graphics, 9400 and 9600GT 256Mb. This game is fantastic, but I can´t play it :(

    Thanks

  6. Does it work in non-fullscreen, though?

Also, for wiping out the configuration file, in case it gets stuck in fullscreen (theoretically it should not, it is supposed to show "do you see it?" button, but there is always the possibility that you click 'yes' accidentally before it times out). It is described in the readme,

    Configurtion file:
    OS X: 'Your home folder/Library/Preferences/com.pandromeda.dmytry/Polynomial/config.txt'

If you need to revert all settings to default without running the game, delete the configuration file.
